Cry Me A River
Suck It Up Buttercup
No One Cares If You’re Offended…
Waking Up to the Harsh Reality
Somewhere down the line, the world has turned into a bunch of self-entitled, arrogant, and lazy crybabies. What happened to the generation that could take abuse as much as they dished it out? Man, I miss the old days.
For those of you easily triggered, or who feel the rest of us need to walk on eggshells around you and safeguard your fragile and narcissistic ego, I’ve got some news for you… the world is sick and tired of your nonsensical bullshit! Bottom line, the world doesn’t care about your feelings, emotions, pronouns, or opinions… Nor should they! To quote Ricky Gervais: “How arrogant are you to think that you deserve to go through life with no one ever saying anything that you don’t agree with or like?… You being offended has nothing to do with me.”
No Apologies, No Excuses
I’m an old man who’s been bruised, beaten, broken, and bloodied throughout my entire life, and simply put, my scars are a reminder of when life tried to break me but failed. As a Gen-X asshole, there’s no need for therapy or a lawyer when someone insults me. If you haven’t already noticed, I’m capable of being the biggest asshole or the nicest person you’ve ever met. You get the side of me you deserve.
I’m going to say a lot of shit that’ll piss people off. I don’t care if I offend you or if you dislike what I say or how I say it. If you don’t like what I have to say, then CLICK HERE.
Setting the Record Straight
I’m Not Here to Please
Let me be clear, I’m not claiming to be a superior fighter, and I’m not saying your fighting skills suck either. Then again, maybe they do, and your pride prevents you from hearing what I have to say.
We’ve never met, so no claims are made against you without knowing what you as an individual are capable of doing… “you,” not your “style.” It’s essential to be aware of tougher, stronger, faster, meaner, and more skilled individuals than any of us.
Unwavering Confidence
However, with absolute confidence, I can say I’m one fucking hell of an outstanding trainer. This site is about sharing my ideas and fighter’s mindset, to those not only worthy of the knowledge and skill I strive to pass down to the next generation of fighters, but also those worthy of my time.
I’m past my prime, and while my body is old and broken, my mind is as sharp as a razor. I can only hope with the time I have left on this beautiful pale blue dot, someone takes what I pass onto them, and improves upon everything they learn. A style has to evolve through adaptation, improvisation, and application.
Exposing the Illusion of Mastery
You think that shiny belt means something? Think again. Mastery isn’t about titles or certificates—it’s about the relentless pursuit of improvement and facing your own limitations head-on. Real fighters know the journey never ends; there’s always room to grow. Wannabes, take your illusions and shove them. Mastery is a path walked by those who never settle and never stop pushing their boundaries.
Embrace Mental Toughness
Physical strength and technique mean jack shit without mental toughness. Real fighters push through pain, failure, and adversity without making excuses or seeking comfort. They embrace the struggle, using it to forge their character. Crybabies, this isn’t a game for the faint-hearted. Real fighters possess the grit to endure and grow from it, understanding that it sharpens their resolve and hones their skills.
Separate Sport from Survival
Don’t confuse dojo antics with real-world combat. Flashy techniques won’t save you on the streets. Real fighters focus on practical, no-nonsense skills for real-life scenarios. Choreographed skills with a compliant partner and traditional forms hold no value in real-time spontaneous application. The difference between sport and survival is a matter of life and death, and real fighters prepare for the harsh realities of both.
Humility Over Arrogance
True warriors stay humble, respecting opponents and acknowledging their own weaknesses. Overconfidence can be your downfall. Real fighters remain grounded, understanding that arrogance and ego have no place in the world of true combat. They continually seek to learn from others, knowing that even the most skilled can be bested. Arrogant showboats, take heed—humility is the mark of a genuine fighter who knows there’s always more to learn and ways to grow.
Pain as a Teacher
Pain and suffering? They’re inevitable. Wannabes run at the first sign of discomfort, but real fighters embrace pain as a teacher. Endure, grow, and sharpen your resolve. Quitters, go cry somewhere else. Pain is a necessary part of the journey, and those who embrace it emerge stronger, more resilient, and ready for whatever comes their way.
Real Talk
Like everyone, I don’t have all the answers. The fighting skill set I possess is only suited for the environment I live in. Old, struggling with Hypothyroidism, having shit knees, asthma, and only one kidney make it clear I won’t be fighting Tyson anytime soon. However, just because he would kill me in the ring doesn’t mean survival in an assault isn’t possible. Yeah, that’s a “What the Fuck Ever” kind of statement some guy makes, knowing full well he’ll never have to prove it. I’ll talk about that HERE.
Harsh Realities
Regardless, keep your ego in check. While you may be a phenomenal fighter, here are a few harsh realities:
- Your style is worthless.
- Your rank and titles are meaningless.
- Your instructor is/was not invincible, nor do they possess supreme knowledge of all areas of combat.
Final Battle Cry
I’m an old fucking man whose eyes were opened to the hidden bullshit within the martial arts world a long time ago. I’m not here to teach you a style; I’m here to free your mind and help you discover your style from within. Embrace your warrior within and rise above.
As the great warriors of old would say: “The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.” Take this knowledge, make it better, and carry on the legacy. Be the fighter who stands unbroken against all odds, for it is in our struggle that we find our true strength. This old fuck gets it, and now, so do you. Go forth and conquer.
McDojos: Masters of Bullshido
Every day, a thousand TikTok and Instagram videos showcase so-called elite masters flaunting their supposed supreme knowledge. They demonstrate how to handle situations with confidence—more like arrogance. Their sheep-like followers dare not question them. Why? Because they wear a tattered black belt and a few patches. These followers pay for the illusion of learning to fight, wasting money. In return, they get a certificate and a new belt after memorizing combinations and self-defense techniques.
Bullshido: The Illusion of Mastery
Your style only works in specific, controlled scenarios. It’s effective against compliant partners, using pre-determined attacks and rehearsed techniques. That’s complete and utter BULLSHIT, better known as “Bullshido.”
Style Braggers and the Truth
The most arrogant of all style braggers? Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. But they’re not alone. Boxers, MMA fighters, traditional martial artists, and military fighting styles—all boast about being the ultimate fighting system. They all miss a crucial element: their styles only work in specific scenarios. I’ll dive more into that HERE.
Even worse, they believe their style grants them superhuman skills and makes them unstoppable. How many times have you heard some big asshole claim, “If you piss me off, I’ll kick the shit out of you!”? In my profession, this happens countless times. Every man out there thinks he’s the biggest badass in town. It’s not the style that’s superior; it’s the person. And the situation or environment dictates the effectiveness of that style.
Real-World Scenarios
If you’re fighting in a cage, Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, and Muay Thai are essential. But what about walking to your car after work, ready to fend off a knife attacker? Those styles become useless for the average individual lacking the strength, stamina, and toughness of a cage fighter. So, you train in a knife system like Kali (Escrima), developing superhuman reaction speed and knife mastery. You might not take a beating like a cage fighter, but if you avoid the attack and execute a lethal skill, you’re no less a skilled fighter.
Adapt or Perish
Take an alpha animal out of its environment, and it’s no longer an alpha. It’s like the snake to the mongoose or the mongoose to the snake. A Great White Shark is dangerous, but how well will it survive in a freshwater lake? A military combat soldier is a killing machine on the battlefield, but a sitting target in the boxing ring. A boxer may hold the title in the ring, but in a fight with no rules, he might find himself crippled at the knee, blinded, or tapped out by a chokehold. We’re all masters of our own kingdom until we invade a foreign land. If your fighting style can’t adapt to the environment or the opponent, then yes, your style is worthless.
